New car sales in Portugal shoot up 18.6% year-on-year in May to 23,545 units, bringing the year-to-date tally to 100,842, up 4.8% over the same period last year. Peugeot (+38.5%) remains the uncontested leader with 10.5% of the market, while Dacia (+32.1%) overtakes Mercedes (+13.7%) to snap the 2nd spot. Volkswagen (+12.2%) follows but disappoints slightly, as does Renault (+6.9%), albeit still #2 year-to-date.
